The Daiquiri is one of the most classic of all cocktails and with National Daiquiri Day on July 19, this is the perfect time to raise a glass. This rum cocktail was first created in the town of Daiquiri in Cuba by an American engineer who lived and worked there following the Spanish American war. The cocktail was brought to the United States in 1909 by a Navy officer who fell in love with the refreshing sip and brought the recipe home with him where it was introduced to Washington, DC’s Army and Navy Club. What makes the Daiquiri a classic cocktail is its simple ingredients, which really allow the flavor and clean taste of Copalli Rum to shine through. We think the classic is delicious, or for a refreshing twist, add watermelon.
