The Black Howler Monkey or ‘Baboon’ in Belize is the largest monkey in Belize and one of the largest in the Americas. As a result of hunting and habitat destruction, the Howler Monkey is endangered, but fortunately Belize has a healthy population.
Known for their distinctive “howl” — the loudest of the primates, live in troops of between four and eight members. They are territorial about their habitat which ranges from three to 25 acres, which they defend through the use of their voice.
