Known as the ‘night walker’ in Belize, the kinkajou is a nocturnal animal which lives in the upper canopy of the rainforest. They feed mainly on fruits and insects.
The kinkajou is extremely agile and fast and travels quickly along the tree tops, jumping noisily from tree to tree thanks in part to its long tail which it counts on for balance and grip.
The kinkajou is one of the more commonly seen of the rainforest residents, often time visible by shining a flashlight into the trees which reflects on its bright eyes.
